This reference book is an easy to search petrology book for anyone who has a geology degree or is just passionate about rocks. It is organized into igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary, and general sections. It includes dozens of charts ,diagrams, and photos to aid in rock identification. This book is not a teaching book for beginners. To be able to use this book, you need to have a firm understanding of the physical properties of rocks. This is the third edition of this book and it has an entire brand new section as well as updated ternary plots. It is also laid out as one book unlike the first two editions which were just a combination of the igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary books.
