James Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), from the age of 21, was a pioneer missionary to the almost closed empire of China. Invalided back to England in 1860, he carried a burden for the millions without Christ in inland China. When the empire opened to Westerners, Taylor could find no mission willing to send him, so in 1865 he founded the China Inland Mission, asking God to send “24 willing, skillful laborers,” 2 for each unreached province. They sailed in 1866, relying only on faith and prayer for their support. Amazingly, by 1895 Taylor led 641 missionaries, about half the entire Protestant force in China. Few men have been so powerful an instrument in God’s hands, proclaiming the gospel to such a vast population and bringing so many Christian churches into being. In these thirty devotional readings, Taylor shares with believers the spiritual secrets that transformed his life and work. He assures us that God’s power is available power. Believers are supernatural people, born again by a supernatural birth, kept by a supernatural power, sustained on supernatural food, taught by a supernatural Teacher from a supernatural Book. We are led by a supernatural Captain in right paths to assured victories. These spiritual secrets will inspire and challenge you to greater faith.
