Description Be a Suffragette, just like the women who marched, petitioned, and lectured on the need for women to have the right to vote. Many of these women wore sashes and often those sashes had the words VOTES FOR WOMEN across the front. Through research, we learned that many of the sashes included 18 stars to show the number of states that had ratified the amendment. Eighteen stars marked the half-way point as 36 ratifications were needed. In 1920, the 19th Amendment became law. Our tri-colored sash is authentic in its details and colors — purple, white, and gold.

• [SUFFRAGE SASH SIZE] Our sash is 4 by 72 inches. We researched hundreds of photos to approximate the authentic size.
• [SUFFRAGETTE SASH MATERIALS] Suffrage sash is made of 3-colored satin.
• [SUFFRAGIST SASH DESIGN] Again using photographs, we determined that many of the sashes had the words VOTES FOR WOMEN plus 18 stars. We used the same font shown on many of the sashes.
