Hand Operated Liquid Limit Device fitted with blow counter complete with Casagrande grooving tools and a Gauge Block. The liquid limit device as a soil test equipment is defined as the moisture content at which the soil passes from plastic state to liquid state; it is very helpful in the classification of the potential properties of the soil material. The liquid limit device consists of a hard rubber base carrying a sliding carriage assembly to which a brass cup is hinged. The cup is raised and allowed to fall through a height of 1cm on to the hard rubber base, by the help of a lead screw provided at the back of the sliding carriage. Specifications: * Material: Disc made from brass * Soil Disc Fall: 10mm/Second 2 * Chord Height: 27mm * Usage: Moisture content clay soils pass from a plastic to a liquid state. Material – Brass & Stainless Steel Chord Height – 27 mm Blade length – 60 mm Blade width – 10 mm Automation Grade – Manual Packaging Type – Box Display Type – Analog Usage/Application – Soil Testing Condition – New Colour – Black & Gold
Features
- The cup can be adjusted for a fall of 1 cm and can be raised an dropped on a rubber base of standard hardness by cam action. Complete with one Casagrande grooving tool, one ASTM grooving tool and a height gauge block. A counter to register the number of blows.

- Liquid limit is the water content at which soil passes from zero strength to an infinite strength, hence the true value of liquid limit cannot be determined. For determination purpose liquid limit is that water content at which a part of soil, cut by a groove of standard dimensions, will flow together for a distance of 1.25cm under an impact of 25 blows in a standard liquid limit apparatus.
- The soil at the water content has some strength which is about 0.17N/cm. sq. (17gms/sq.cm.) . At this water content soil just passes from liquid state to plastic state. It consists on a brass cup held on an adjustable bracket.
- Blade width – 10 mm
