Ficus repens or Creeping Fig is an elegant plant that has been seen covering buildings and trellises for nearly a century. This foliage plant has a unique growth habit that lends it to some special landscape applications. As Creeping Fig extends long runners, it produces tiny tendrils that allow it to cling to nearly any surface. Ficus repens grows best in partial shade, but will also thrive in full sun conditions. Interestingly, this plant will produce the occasional pure white or highly variegated leaf if it is exposed to full sun. Creeping Fig’s normal foliage also adds plenty of visual interest; its tough heart shaped leaves grow tightly together to quickly obscure the surface it grows upon.
