The Frey Scientific Single-Gel Electrophoresis Apparatus is a Electrophoresis apparatus for middle school and high school biology biotechechnology students to draw deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) through cast agarose gel using an electrical charge, has pure platinum electrodes for conductivity and longevity, and a leak-free, one-piece molded chamber made from clear acrylic, and includes 12-well forming combs and patch cords. The tank measures 2-1/2 x 7 x 3-1/2 inches (H x W x D) and holds running buffer (sold separately). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) The casting gel tray measures 3 x 4 inches (W x D) and is used to cast agarose gels. Well-forming combs are used during the gel casting process to make small wells for inserting DNA samples. Red and black electrical patch cords connect the electrophoresis apparatus to a power supply (not included). When the tank is turned on, the electrical current through the buffer draws the DNA through the cast gel at different speeds. Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology. School Specialty provides instructional materials and supplies under dozens of brands, among them Think Math, Delta Education, Frey Scientific, Childcraft, and School Smart. The company, founded in 1959, is headquartered in Greenville, WI. What’s in the Box? Tank Casting gel tray 12-well forming combs (6) Patch cords (2)
