Ask your opponent to select any one of the three dice. You select another and both dice are thrown to see who gets the higher number. You win roughly two out of three rolls. Invite your opponent to choose another die – leaving you to select one of the remaining dice for yourself and play again. Again you win 2/3 of the time. Whichever die your opponent selects, your choice will win roughly 2/3 of the time. While it seems impossible, the secret of these dice is easily explained by examining the markings on each die. The first die beats the second in 25 out of 36 possibilities, the second beats the third in 21 out of 36 chances, and the third beats the first in 21 out of 36 tries.
