Excerpt from History of the Methodist Protestant Children’s Home, 1910-1935 The people in and around Denton came to us almost daily with food for our family. One of our greatest joys was in taking our two wheeled cart down to meet the evening train to see if we had any boxes, and we seldom came back without one or more that had come from somewhere in the state, which proved the interest our people had in the orphan child, and was a great source of encouragement to those in charge. We soon had a cow, chickens, two pigs, and in the spring made our first garden, so we fared well. Our children were healthy and doing well in school. Those were great days.
