Innovating Science Oil Spill Cleanup Kit: Biological vs. Physical

Innovating Science chemistry kit is used to compare biological and physical methods of oil spill cleanup. Students apply a blend of oil-degrading microbes and hydrocarbon-encapsulating polymer to oil, and examine results and draw conclusions regarding the effectiveness of each approach. The kit has prepared stained vegetable oil for simulating crude oil to eliminate the hazards and disposal costs of using a real sample.
