The literal meaning of the word upasana is to “sit near”. Puja, or ritualistic worship, forms a part of the process of upasana. Thus, the meaning and significance of worship is the practice of sitting near to God. The first part of this book gives instructions to the reader on specific methods of the worship of Sri Ramakrishna. Included are lists of Arati items, mantras and mudras. The appendices speak more of the philosophy, or significance, of worship in general.
