Mistakes Record Book for Qur’aan Memorisation or Recitation Version B Blank Soorah Names I have developed this notebook to record any mistakes made in recitation or memorization of the Noble Qur’aan. I have found over the years that if students write down their mistakes they are more likely to remember them and correct them bdhn llh. I also deduced that if all the mistakes are written in one place it is easier for quick reference. (Unlike searching for different notebooks from various courses and levels or scraps of paper that become buried and lost when you really need them most!). The best method of ensuring correct recitation is to find a skilled Qur’aan teacher. A teacher or a friend can make notes of the mistakes for you. If you cannot find a teacher then record yourself reciting, then listen and follow the mushaf to hear your mistakes. Then you can make a note of them for future reference and focus on them next time you recite until they are completed corrected. The final column in the chart is to tick the corrections once they are mastered. Mistakes can be major or minor. Try and focus on the major mistakes. (See my blog for examples and for further details: www.quraanteacherresources.blogspot.com). Here are a few types of mistakes that frequently occur (all below are major apart from the tajweed rule which can be major or minor depending): wrong pronunciation of letters wrong joining of letters wrong vowels wrong joining of words not practised a tajweed rule wrong word wrong ayah missed a word missed an aayah added a word added an aayah If additional pages are needed for certain Suwar you can photocopy the blank chart at the back of the book and attach it with the surah. Look out for version A which has all the 114 surahs labelled for ease of reference. Allaah help us to recite His Book how it was revealed and understand and practice what is contained within it, aameen!
