Munchables Tree of Life Sensory Chew Necklace

What are Munchables? The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists specifically recommends Munchables for their ability to “replace inappropriate chewing behavior and to provide potential regulating effects for the sensory system – reducing fidgeting and promoting attention and focus.” (2018) Munchables are chewy necklaces are ideal to stop nail biting, finger sucking, and torn shirts. They are often used by OTs in the treatment of ADHD, autism, anxiety, trichotillomania and sensory processing disorder. Our sensory chew necklaces, chew bracelets, chewable zipper pulls and chewable pencil toppers act not only as stylish sensory stim aids, but also provide a focal point which can help kids and adults filter out excess sensory information. This can help children self-regulate and encourage calm and focus. There is a great deal of research that shows that oral sensory fidget toys can provide a calming, organizing, and focusing response (Scheerer, 1992). Which Munchable is right for my child? While most of our sensory chew jewelry was designed with kids in mind, we have several options that would also be appropriate for adults, such as the Lotus, Infinity, Tree, Leaf, Scribbles, Surfboard, Rectangle and Triangle Pendant. For those with a more aggressive bite or seeking a firm chew, we suggest the Donut, Scribbles or Yummy Gummy chewies.
