Richter series chisels are hardened with a special system called Cryo technology. Immediately after the initial hardening, cryogenic treatment cools the steel to very low temperatures using liquid nitrogen, down to -190degC. This completes the austenite transformation, which increases both the hardness and toughness of the steel. Named after Narex founder Vaclav Richter, these chisels represent the highest quality of manufacturing processes that combine unique materials, heat treatment and machining to produce the ultimate tool for woodworkers. Each chisel is marked with the RICHTER EXTRA brand.
Features
- These superb bevel edged chisels are named after the founder of Narex Bystrice, Mr Vaclav Richter. Launched to celebrate the centenery of the company
- Made from a new type of carbon steel alloyed with chromium for enhanced hardenability and vanadium for grain reduction and enhanced toughness, the steel is heat treated using a cryogenic process to maximise the formation of the desirable martensite crystalline microstructure in the finished steel.
- The chisels are fitted with traditional pattern handles from Mr Richter’s time, made from ash for lightness and strength, extremely smoothly finished and secured with a splitproof ground steel ferrule bearing the Richter logo and smartly trimmed with a thin leather bolster. The chisels are supplied coated with a light corrosion inhibiting oil with VCI protection for each individual chisel to ensure that they reach you in perfect condition.
- Available in eight sizes: 1/8″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, and 1-1/2″
