Orton-Gillingham Lesson Planning Companion Guide: Differentiated word lists with decodable phrases and sentences for little kids and big kids

Written by an Orton-Gillingham Academy Fellow and a Fellow in Training, this book provides comprehensive word lists and decodable phrases and sentences for students with lower-level vocabulary who are in grades K-2 (little kids) and higher-level vocabulary word lists for students in grades 3 and beyond (big kids). However, it is more than just word lists. The guide also provides: a suggested scope and sequence, a detailed explanation of each skill and/or the spelling generalization/rule, posters for each syllable type, multisyllabic word lists based on syllable division patterns (with schwa and without), helpful tips, and a list of phonetically irregular words. The decodable phrases and sentences in this book are designed as a starting point. Once students are able, they should also be reading teacher-controlled passages that allows for a deeper dive into comprehension. An Orton-Gillingham (OG) practitioner should always be diagnostic and prescriptive in their lesson planning and delivery. The word lists in this book are to provide you with resources to choose words that meet the needs of your students.
