There is no doubt that on one level this is the daftest tale ever told. A mish mash of Harry Potter seeking enlightenment from the likes of Nisargadatta. Or worse, Enid Blyton’s Famous Five meeting sages like Wei Wu Wei (along with even more contemporary teachers of non-duality). On another level, you may witness similar trials undertaken by the modern-day seeker endeavouring to find freedom. The challenge has been – is it possible to write a story in the humorous vein of a Norman Hunter book (think Professor Branestawm or The Dribblesome Teapots) – yet at the same time, slowly but surely uncover the deeper mysteries of life? Can a child’s adventure reveal not just the latest in neuroscience but also the findings of famous enlightened masters? And which so-called masters are telling the truth? Who to believe when some say the only real thing is a ‘you’ and all else is illusion while others say the only illusion is the ‘you’? So what can be found? Is there a self who can awaken to a truth? Is reaching an enlightened awareness the answer? Or can only the apparent death of awareness end the plight of the seeker? Follow Maxim Quigley (a seventeen year old with quite a few problems and currently living in The-Lands-of-Duality) and find out. The premise: A teenager (who’s a bit backward) and who’s living in a world of magick and deception is forced on a quest to uncover most (if not all) of the veils of illusion to reach enlightenment. At first, his lessons are about surviving the ordinary spells thrown his way. But then he’s tasked to bring enlightenment to the whole world. Only when the search becomes a matter of life and death does the teenager desperately need the help of special, non-dual pointers to complete the mission. Thinly disguised magi (remarkably like well-known masters of non-duality both past and present) point the way but then he meets a strange couple in a stone cottage who suggest the search he’s on is the biggest delusion of them all . . . and all the parameters change. Please note : You will find a glossary of Scottish swear words, latin spells and other unusual words in this tale at the end. You will also find a reference section, for surprisingly, quite a bit of this outrageous fable embraces actual findings in neuroscience and non-duality.
