Rhyming CVC Stories (Jelly and Bean Reading Scheme)

This book contains 4 stories with sentences consisting of many CVC words with rhyming endings. The aim of the book is to give children reinforcement for their early word learning, so that they have the confidence to move on to read words with more complicated spellings. The titles of the stories are 1. The Bun in the Sun, 2. A Jog in the Fog, 3. Jet, the Pet, 4. Kevin’s Chop. There are some words containing vowel digraphs in the stories. These are: ee, ea, ay, or, oo, ou, in the words ‘see, Bean, eat, play, away, says, for, door, look, out’. It is assumed that children are familiar with the high-frequency words ‘the, I, go, to, into, oh, no, he, she, are, have, going, you’. The new ‘tricky’ words that children will meet in the stories are: ‘all, call, fall, can’t, they, her, he’s, goes, so, come’.
