If you’ve ever picked up your guitar and had no idea what to play, unsure if you’re making progress, or unaware if you’re spending your limited practice time on the right things, here is your solution. This journal is designed to guide guitar players in structuring their practice sessions with intention and clarity. It includes various warm-up exercises aimed at improving speed, dexterity, ear training, theory, and, in general, mastering the fretboard. Each day or journal entry focuses on four key concepts: Technique, Ear Training, Repertoire, and Free Practice. The goal is to ensure that each practice session is focused and well-balanced, helping the reader grow as a musician. Tommy Gerlach is a professional guitarist based in Nashville, TN. After studying Music Performance in his hometown of Milwaukee, WI, Tommy moved to Nashville in 2020 and soon began touring with various pop, country, and CCM artists, including Josh Ross, Thompson Square, Stars Go Dim, Reyna Roberts, Roman Alexander, Kayley Green, Coby James, Madeline Consoer, Rachael Nemiroff among many many others.
