The Telephone Exchange

This novel is a story of what might have happened had the American Civil War had an alternate ending. It takes place in the 1880s; which was a time of invention and growth; and combines facts and fiction to create a story of love, humor, conflict, politics, and a little bit of larceny. It is a story about some real issues of the day combined with the spirit of invention to give the reader a look of what would have or could have been. The 1880s; was a time of transition, industrialization and discovery when anything was possible. Some of the characters were people who really lived and contributed during this period and I encourage you to look up their stories. My main character is based on my own family history mixed with heroes I have known to show how the Spirit of Yankee ingenuity reacts to whatever is placed before it. This is a work of fiction but I have tried to address some real-life issues we face today.
