Vikings, the musical by Stimson [book and songs], Otheim [score] and Snead [book] is a comic romp in two acts with a large cast more or less resembling Vikings. The story takes its dramatic inspiration from Nordic mythology using a zany anachronistic style reminiscent of Monty Python with a twist of Mel Brooks. The score is a witty parody on classic Broadway, including a jazzy tap number and a Gilbert and Sullivan like patter song, not to mention a farcical take on Edvard Grieg. Though a satire on everything Viking, the show touches on contemporary themes such as self-acceptance, cultural tolerance, gender equality and even toxic masculinity. In other words… its pure Viking fun.
