When a Promise is Made to the Muse (MISTY MOUNTAIN CHRONICLES)

When a Promise is made to the Muse is book three of the Misty Mountain Chronicles. The poetry and some prose entries were written between May 2023 and September 2024.The poetry could be classified as romantic and at the same time psychological, delving into the mystery of the human being, personal growth and self-development, philosophical, the nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, metaphysical and spiritual. It is playful, provocative, and entertaining, addressing social, political, educational and artistic issues openly, with a light heart, while questioning the status quo and seeking to understand the times we live in.

The Misty Mountain Chronicles began in 2018 when I moved to Yelm. My mother grew up in Seattle and she often reminisced about Mt. Rainier, its beauty, mysterious, and majestic nature. She missed it dearly and always considered it her home. When I moved to Yelm in the spring of 2018, I also became enchanted by the mists and the mountain.I grew up in South Texas and at 28 moved to Northern New Mexico. For the next 48 years I lived in Santa Fe, Taos, and Mora, all located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, a part of the Rocky Mountain range that extends from Mexico to Canada. These cities, although Mora is more like a village, live in the aura and environment of these mountains and for most of the year the days are clear and sunny, a significant difference to the Pacific Northwest. These environments, one near sea level and the other at 6500 feet, with their moods, weather patterns, and spirit of place, inspire the artistic imagination in different but equally poignant ways.

May these poems nurture truth, beauty, and goodness in the world, in human hearts, and spirit realms, whether in revolution, self-knowledge or for entertainment. For those who are here by mistake or expecting something different, may we meet, you and I and enjoy the conversation, and if you need a wake-up call, may it be heard without apology, for what comes to meet us is our creation, our destiny, participating with world destiny.
