Sight words are the most frequently used words in reading and writing, and early readers are expected to be able to recognize them instantly, on sight. This resource includes exercises that develop, reinforce, and strengthen students’ ability to identify, understand, and use common sight words with correct spelling and letter formation. In order to accomplish this, young learners are asked to complete the following tasks: Trace the sight word. Write the sight word. Locate the word’s letters within the alphabet and circle them. Use the shape of the word’s letters to identify the box the word fits into. Write the word in order to complete a sentence. The 100 words highlighted in this book come from Dr. Fry’s Sight Word Lists, and they are organized in the order of the frequency with which they are used in everyday speech and writing. Assessment pages at the back of the book ask students to use picture and context clues to choose the correct sight words to complete sentences. Flash cards for all 100 grade-appropriate sight words are also included. This resource is 128 pages in all.
