Book 8: 95 Decodable Reader Book 8 (Grade 2) provides continued practice with the VCe pattern (spruce) and words containing Vowel-R (shark), and introduces one-syllable words with soft c and g (face, strange). Book 8 contains 7 chapters, 52 stories, and 278 comprehension questions. 95 Decodable Readers are a series of 13 phonetically controlled, decodable texts that are designed to complement the 95 Reading Achievement Program (95 RAP(tm)); they can be used independently or to supplement any Orton-Gillingham influenced reading program. The 95 Decodable Readers are aligned with the 95 RAP word attack phonics sequence, and each text (Grades K-4) focuses on specific phonetic patterns with high frequency words introduced at the beginning of each story. Comprehension questions, based on the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy (2001), are included. 95 Decodable Readers give emerging readers the opportunity to apply learned phonics skills, and transition to a focus on comprehension.
