American Settlements and Migrations: A Primer for Genealogists and Family Historians

This work provides a synopsis of the original settlement and migration patterns throughout the United States. Although the author discusses each of the 50 states, his focus is on the states and territories that were established between the colonial period and the middle of the 19th century. For each state the author examines settlers’ origins, the reasons for settlement, places of settlement in America, names of early families, migrations across and between states, and more.
