Electromagnetism doesn’t have to be abstract! Students latch on to tangible results, making the Faraday’s Law and Lenz’s Law Complete Demo Set a great tool for open-ended discussion and guided inquiry. Contorting hands into odd shapes is a tried and true method for predicting induced current, but it often isn’t enough to convey the deeper relationship between electricity and magnetism. With this demo set, students can ask questions and draw inferences based on what they can see in front of them. Take your demos a step further by plugging in a voltage probe to quantify the induced current in the solenoid. Any voltage probe with 4 mm banana plug connectors can be looped into the circuit to measure the potential difference across the solenoid. The included stackable banana plugs allow for easy hook-up and measurement. With the data in front of them, students have all the tools necessary to fit Faraday’s Law and Lenz’s Law into the bigger picture of energy conservation. As the distance the magnet falls changes, the graph will change too! But it is up to the students to interpret the results. Please note: Ring stand is not included.
