When thinking back on one’s childhood education, often the strongest memories are not the skills that were learned in the classroom, but rather the process and experience of going to school. This collection of short films, from the archives of the A/V Geeks Film Library, brings those elementary school memories back to life. Sometimes campy, sometimes clever, these are the vintage 16 mm films that taught children the necessary survival skills of clean hands, well-tied shoes, playground safety, and waiting one’s turn. Not only did such films aid in the proper functioning of the institution, they attempted to ingrain “good habits” in the minds of the children, to provide them with the behavioral foundation upon which their prosperous American citizenship could be built.
