Commonplace Books have been around since the time writing began. They were a place to deposit ideas, inspiration, and facts for later reference. This commonplace book is for advanced learners (high school and beyond). It is not a journal, but a collection. It is a place where a homeschool student can write down original ideas, bits of copywork, and graphics gleaned from experiencing life and learning interesting things. For parents, this is a format that gives some structure to organic learning. Included are pages designed and drawn by the author. There are three “collections” to choose from. The first page of each collection includes spaces for snippets of pertinent information, including some visual elements. The next pages of each collection are dedicated to writing a narrative or other type of essay. While the Commonplace Book Primary is meant for those just beginning to write, and the Commonplace Book No. 2 is meant for those children who can write whole paragraphs, Commonplace Book No. 3 is meant for those who are comfortable writing multiple-paragraph essays. When completely filled in, this book can become a keepsake and physical representation of the joyous hours spent learning together. About the author: Sherry Hayes is the mother of 15 children and has been homeschooling for over three decades. Her heart’s desire to see families discover the freedom and bliss of learning and growing together in a manner that is more in line with God’s original intents. She has a YouTube channel, Mom Delights, and a website, MomDelights.com, where you can learn more about her and her philosophy of homeschooling and about home and mom life.
