Discovering Reading: A Readable Phonics Series for Young Readers. Friends: Book 31 – Multi-syllabic words with closed syllables including suffixes -ed and -ing

For some children, reading comes easily. Others are not as fortunate. Even most low level reading books I find for my students still cause a lot of frustration. This is the 31stbook in a series intended to introduce one phonics concept at a time in connection with select high frequency words and build upon what is learned in each book. This book introduces the suffixes -ed and -ing. My hope is that this book will be one more piece in the puzzle that helps more and more young readers find joy in the journey of discovering reading. This book is not intended to be the end of a child’s reading journey, but rather the beginning. With a strong foundation in phonics and high frequency words, I believe children will have the support they need to continue to read far beyond this controlled reading environment. May every book be a stepping stone toward confidence, imagination, and endless possibilities.
