The study was undertaken to assess the effect of poverty on women and children in Malakal city Republic of South Sudan, The main objective of the study was to reveal how rural poverty effects the characteristics of rural women and children The results revealed that the main source of monthly income for the women was the marginal jobs and also the monthly income of 97% of the respondents, was below the poverty line, only 3% was above poverty line.
