The rotating magnet provides the necessary tools to discover concepts involving Faraday’s Law, magnetism, in addition to Lenz’s Law. The apparatus is composed of a 600 turn solenoid with two 4mm banana plug type terminals and a bar magnet on a rotating platform. The device can either be used to show how a time varying magnetic field can produce an electromotive force, or how a current in a wire can create a magnetic field and in turn interact with another magnetic field. Using the rotating magnet apparatus, the rotating magnet creates a time varying magnetic flux through the solenoid. The electromotive forced can be observed using a voltage meter connected to the solenoid. Alternatively, one can use the solenoid to create a magnetic field that interacts with the rotating magnet. Apparatus is mounted to a base measuring 7.75″ wide and 4.75″ long. It measures 3.5″ in total height. Fitted with two, 4mm banana plug type terminals. Included: Rotating Magnetic Apparatus (1) Alnico magnet (70x18mm) Experiment guide Required Materials (not included): Power supply (2A max capability) (2) 4mm banana plug leads Multimeter or plotting voltage probe
