Experiments for Introductory Chemistry

It’s been my experience that students learn and remember more by doing than simply by reading or being told the “facts.” The experiments in this manual are designed to give real meaning and understanding of the fundamental concepts of chemistry. Through the interesting hands-on experiments in this manual the students become fully engaged in the principles, concepts, and lab techniques of chemistry. The manual has been newly revised and updated and all directions are clear and precise. Measurement techniques and the proper use of significant digits are emphasized throughout the manual. As part of an emphasis on critical thinking the students are asked in each experiment to determine how specific errors would have affected their apparent results and therefore lead to incorrect conclusions.
