Fundamental Lessons in Rhythm and Meter consolidate the fundamentals of time comprehension learned from the service of full-time drum instruction spanning almost two decades. Written for both the student and teacher, the lessons proposed are for all levels of the inquiring musical intellect. The student is asked to fill in all meters. Space is provided for both the Traditional Meter and the Universal Meter. The lessons progress in a modern, organized fashion, continuously building upon themselves. All lessons are written to allow for a variety of rudimental applications and styles. No specific style or cultural insinuation exists in any of the lessons. If each lesson is appropriately absorbed the student will achieve a sense of universal rhythmic comprehension. Using a metronome with each lesson is highly recommended. The author has an established international career in drum set instruction, high school drumlines, and rhythm and movement classes for children. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Berklee College of Music. He’s currently pursing a masters degree in music therapy from Paris – Descartes. He resides in Paris, France.
