THE PRISON SYSTEM IS LIKE A REVOLVING DOOR Currently in the United States, there are more than 2.3 million people incarcerated in prisons and jails around the country. That’s about 1 out of every 145 U.S. citizens. Each of these prisoners has a network of friends and family members that all have one question on their minds: When my loved one is released, what will prevent him or her from reoffending and going right back into jail again? To assist with this concern, Scott Stroud penned Get Out for Good, which gives practical, biblical advice to released prisoners and their families. Drawing from his ministry experience of working with hundreds of prisoners, Scott knows implementation of these simple habits into everyday life exponentially increases the chances for success on the outside. Additionally, each chapter contains discussion questions for group study. Scott Stroud was incarcerated in 1991 for four years as the result of an armed robbery he committed at the age of twenty-one. While in prison, he placed his trust in Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. Since his release, he has successfully stayed out of trouble with the law, owned his own business, and is currently an ordained pastor. This achievement did not occur by accident but rather as the result of specific practices mentors taught him after regaining his freedom. He now aspires to share these practical steps with those facing release from incarceration.
