Math is a progression of skills learned – if a student skips a skill it makes it difficult for them to learn a new skill. By the time students reach 8th grade 64% of the students are lacking basic skills to be successful at their grade level. She utilized this method to make sure that her students were practicing the necessary skills like; adding decimals, fractions, multiplication and division. She reflected and understood that the pandemic was detrimental to society as a whole and it affected our inner city kids immensely.
