Here is a preview of the each week: WEEK 1: This week, you will learn about the three core rhetorical techniques – ethos, pathos, and logos – used by authors to persuade or inform an audience. For math, you will review combining like terms, solving algebraic equations, absolute value equations, and scientific notation. WEEK 2: This week, you will practice identifying sentences with a grammatical error and learn about modifiers and clause structures. For math, you will review solving systems of linear equations using either the substitution or elimination method. You will also review the compound interest formula and apply it to word problems. WEEK 3: This week, you will explore the concepts of themes and motifs in literature, focusing on how these elements contribute to the overall meaning and message of a story. You will also learn about the Unit Circle and how to convert degrees to radians and radians to degrees. Additionally, this week you will start preparing for the SAT ELA section with practice questions. WEEK 4: This week, you will learn strategies for reading and analyzing poetry, including active reading, identifying themes, and exploring figurative language. For math, you will learn about the six trigonometric functions and conclude the week with more SAT ELA prep and vocabulary. WEEK 5: This week, you will read passages and answer the questions for the ELA section. For math, you will practice solving for missing sides and angles using the trig functions you learned in the previous week. WEEK 6: This week, you will read passages that are accompanied by a data table. This type of skill (analyzing data in passages) is regularly tested on standardized exams. For math, you will learn about the 30-60-90 degree and 45-45-90 degree rules. WEEK 7: This week, you will read passages and answer the questions for the ELA section. For math, you will learn about Law of Sines, Law of Cosines, and the arithmetic sequence. As usual, the last day of each week is reserved for SAT practice on the ELA section. WEEK 8: In this last week, you will practice writing an essay after conducting thorough research. For math, you will learn about geometric sequences and probability.
