Leoncello Etudes: Music & Poetry

This book is for you, dear reader, and for all lovers of music and poetry. I have poured all my heart and soul into it. It contains poems and contemporary music for the cello. This music came to me in a dream, and I breathed life into it with my voice. The cello may well be the only instrument that can mimic the human voice. In the end, I decided to commit my dreams to paper in the form of written musical compositions which anybody interested can play, sing, and interpret. The book is essentially a dialogue with poetry, in which the two art forms are closely interwoven. The poems reflect the origin of the melodies, i.e. the emotions and feelings which have inspired me since I came to Germany, and the traces which the music of great composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and others has left on my path as a composer and singer-songwriter. The musical character of these cello works symbolises the various stages of love. This marvellous feeling is the ultimate, unified expression of universal wisdom. Cellists can use this music, which is a blend of classical and modern styles, to enrich their repertoire. Many people will experience the Leoncello Etudes as a brand new type of work, because they embody a form of music with literary correlations.
