The Basswood Bridge Class Pack is a great exercise for creative problem solving. Middle school and high school students will be challenged to design and construct their own wooden bridges, then enjoy the thrill of destructive testing. They will then calculate their bridge’s efficiency to determine the best design. Bridge building supports a wide variety of curricula, including geometry, physics, technology education, mathematics and science. In addition to classroom competition, there are numerous state and nationwide competitions help annually which offer recognition and awards. Kit includes wood (15 pieces per student), adhesive and competition design parameters to conduct the competitive lab activity. You may select 360 pieces of either 0.125 x 0.125 x 24 inch Balsa or 0.09375 x 0.09375 x 24 inch Basswood for this challenging learning activity. Balsa is lighter and easier to cut. Basswood is stronger and has a more consistent density.
