Children love to know the names of each part of the body, their own and the animals they see in the world around them. These cards are standard Montessori teaching materials (in the 3-6 and 6-12 classrooms) that present external anatomy in a powerful way: by isolating each key part in full color while the rest of the animal (the insect, a class of arthropods/invertebrates) is shown in muted shades of gray. This gulf fritillary illustrates the main external anatomy features of the entire insect class including the whole butterfly and its head, proboscis, antennae, eyes, legs, thorax, abdomen, and wings. 9 control cards, 9 matching picture cards, and 9 word cards; 27 cards total. These cards come in a 3-part format, a wonderful literacy-building teaching material. Use the photo-only card as flash cards in vocabulary lessons. Use all 3-parts with children who are beginning to read single words. Children read the separate word label, match it to the picture, and then check their own work with the labeled cards. This makes it possible for beginning readers to practice reading anytime, without help. Approx. card sizes are as follows: control cards (3 2/3 x 4 1/3), matching picture cards (3 2/3 x 3), and word cards (3 2/3 x 1 1/8). All cards have rounded corners, are laminated with a heavy 5 mil non-toxic laminate, and come in a reclosable bag for easy storage.
