The Matchlock Mage

Garrard is a young man unknowingly ahead of his time: a better book-keeper than mage-in-training, he lives for efficiency and accountability in a world where the currency of force is composed magic and steel. Despite his complete lack of promise as a wizard, Garrard is apprenticed to Arnoth the Unstoppable, greatest mage in the world, the one man who has foreseen Garrard’s true destiny. Garrard’s adventure begins when he accompanies his master, along with the legendary Elsewinde the Immaculate, and Basher the Red, on a quest to discover what mysterious force is felling the world’s greatest adventurers within the Realm of Thunder, a dark land of rumbling skies where even the mightiest of heroes has fallen. Garrard is neither wizard nor warrior, healer nor thief. He is but an awkward young bookkeeper whose penchant for precision and love of logic will lead him to power in a world he is about to forever change.
