The map is printed on a light background with an ink color chosen for easy use in the light while providing high contrast when using a red astronomy light under a dark sky. Other products with small white stars printed on a dark background are all but unusable in the dark! Other companies may give you a one-size-fits-all product that can doom beginners to failure. The Night Sky(tm) is available in versions for latitude zones for the northern hemisphere all the way up to the arctic circle as well as in a Southern Hemisphere version. We also have a custom version for Japan.
