The Nursing Process Leads to Critical Thinking: A Guide to Help anyone Develop Critical Thinking with a Focus on Career Nursing

The idea for this book arose out of the time when I was teaching nursing. It was interesting to talk about The Nursing Process, however, nursing students tend to have many different ideas of what the process is and have difficulty putting it to use. Nurses who have graduated from their program continue to lack the knowledge to implement the nursing process into standard practice. They also cannot find a way to learn how to put it to use for lack of resources to help them learn. While working it is much too busy to stop and evaluate how it may be done. This fact leads to an additional problem. As nurses grow in their profession, they need to develop critical thinking which is the ultimate path that defines the difference between a nurse, a good nurse and a great nurse. A nurse that can think on her feet in all kinds of emergent situations is the nurse you want taking care of you! Since critical thinking takes experience over years to develop and it starts with the nursing process, it leaves many nurses without a basic knowledge of “The Nursing Process” to start the long journey of being able to develop the “Critical Thinking” skills demanded in the profession of nursing to become a great nurse. This is very concerning to the delivery of patient care. I hope this book will help guide nurses to achieve a better performance opportunity in their chosen profession.
