Course Description: Units of study in this course include the basis for the creation of the Constitution by the Founding Fathers, three branches of government, the rights of citizens, federalism, how government works, and the responsibilities of citizens. We suggest assigning this course five days per week over 36 weeks. This course is appropriate for students in grades 5-6. Prior to beginning this course, it is recommended that students complete U.S. Geography. Upon completion of this course, students will: Be able to describe cause-and-effect relationships and multiple perspectives. Explain the use of primary and secondary sources when studying history. Analyze data from diverse materials, synthesize information from multiple sources, and draw an evidence-based conclusion.
