When firing ceramics, potters often want to retain the original color of the ceramic, which requires very delicate operations when glazing, which is time-consuming and unfriendly to beginners. If you use wax resist, you only need to fill the outlined area on the pottery with wax resist, and you can glaze it at will without worrying about the glaze dipping into other areas. Wax resist is a must-have for many ceramic artists, Ideal Gifts for Children Adults and Artists. How to Use Wax Resist: The only purpose of the wax is to make it easier for you to wipe the glaze off. The wax will burn off at low temperature during the bisque firing process (approx. 500 degrees), revealing designs, base colors, or just unglazed pot underneath. You can paint the bottoms to protect your pots from absorbing glaze. When you’re done, make sure to rinse your brush in water. The wax is water soluble so it’ll come right off. No more worrying about staining other areas with glaze! Instructions: 1. Outline the areas on the pottery that you do not want to glaze; 2. Apply wax resist to the areas you do not want to be glazed, and let it dry for 1-2 minutes until there is no liquid flowing; 3. Fill the pottery with base glaze, and use a sponge ball to wipe off the glaze stained on the wax-resisted area; 4. Put the pottery blank into the kiln for firing. Precautions: 1. Use brushes of different thicknesses to paint, and deal with fine details reasonably to avoid wax blocking overflow areas; 2. When painting, the work should be laid flat to prevent the wax from blocking the flow to other areas; 3. If it is a spherical pottery blank, you must wait until the wax in the area directly above is initially dry before adjusting the position to apply wax to other places; 4. The initial drying time is related to the thickness of the wax resist. Thin areas can be initially dried in more than ten seconds; 5.
