What we believe shapes us. Who we are, what we do, and how we do it all flow out of our deepest beliefs. And here’s the scary part: We’re not always in control over what we believe. With these opening words, Dean Diehl (Ed.D.) leads readers through a broad summary of the core beliefs of Christians everywhere with an emphasis on the particular tradition known as the Wesleyan/Holiness movement as practiced by the Church of the Nazarene. With a unique blend of research-based teaching, insight, and humor, What We Believe moves theology from the halls of academia to the homes of everyday believers who want to know how to recognize true Christian beliefs amid a diverse, pluralistic culture full of counter-narratives and competing ideologies. Written in an easy-to-read conversational style, Diehl has created a simple introduction to the Christian faith that can be understood and enjoyed by readers of all ages and stages of belief from the skeptic to the lifelong church goer. Dean Diehl (MBA, Ed.D.) is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Music Business for Trevecca Nazarene University’s Skinner School of Business in Nashville, Tennessee. He is formerly the Senior Vice President for Strategy and New Business at Provident Entertainment, a division of Sony Music, Inc. He is a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene and has been trained and tutored in theology and philosophy by mentors such as H. Ray Dunning, Gary Allen Henecke, William Greathouse, Henry Spaulding, Craig Keen, and his good friend Steve Hoskins. Hoskins and Diehl co-host a podcast called This Is The Good Life which can be found on any platform that hosts podcasts.
