Whom Will You Serve?: A Curriculum Guide based on the book Elijah’s Boy by R. K. Livingston

“Whom Will You Serve?” is a novel study of the book “Elijah’s Boy” for Grade 4/5 students. The curriculum is designed for Sunday School use but is easily adaptable for use in other venues. The story is an account of the Old Testament events leading up to the confrontation on Mount Carmel between Elijah and the prophets of Baal as seen through the eyes of Elijah’s 12 year old servant, Nathaniel. Biblical characters like King Ahab, his steward Obadiah, and Elijah himself, will be brought to vivid life for students. As they relate to Nathaniel in the choices he makes and the lessons he learns along the way they will ultimately be brought to the same question that Nathaniel and all of Israel faced on the mountain. “Whom will you serve?” Topics covered in this curriculum include: *What it means to be alone *The problem with independence *Discovering God’s Authority *Discovering God in your conscience *Discovering God as Protector *Discovering God as Provider *Discovering God as Healer *Discovering God as the One True God *Discovering God’s Plan R.
